Children are a big focus in Mosman this October with exciting news that Council’s new Connections Playgroup for preschool children will open at the Drill Hall from 14 October. The playgroup will initially open Fridays during school term from 10am to noon, with the potential to increase to another day next year. Our Governor General, David Hurley AC, reminds us it is important we all make time to celebrate Children’s Week with this year’s Children’s Week running from 22 to 30 October. Council is hosting a free community event for preschool aged children at the Drill Hall on Friday 21 October from 10am to noon. For more information on the playgroup please call 9978 4161 or to register for the event on 21 October visit events.mosman.nsw.gov.au

Council’s Out & About spring concert series is returning to the beautiful Balmoral Rotunda with the opening twilight concert on Friday 21 October from 6 to 8.30pm. Samantha Jade will be the headline performance with the Queenwood Stage Band and the Mosman High Jazz Band the fabulous warm-up acts. Performers for the second concert on Friday 28 October from 5 to 8.30pm will include the Royal Australian Navy Band as well as Beauty Point Public Senior Band, Mosman Public Senior Dance Group, Neutral Bay School of Dance, Mosman Physie and Groovin High. Outdoor cinema nights are also scheduled for screening at Balmoral Reserve on Saturday 22 and 29 October and our grand finale community event, the very popular Pet’s Day Out will take place on Sunday 30 October from 10am at Reid Park, not the Village Green.

An early Christmas present for Mosman is the Saturday Markets will be returning in November and December as well as the Christmas Night market on 8 December. This really good news is the result of much negotiation by Council’s planning department and will see the major work regarding the Civic Centre renovation commencing in February 2023.

In closing, I remind residents that the Mosman Condolence Book to mark the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will remain available for signing in the foyer of the Civic Centre until after the October long weekend.

I trust all families stay safe and enjoy the school holidays with their children, grandchildren or great grandchildren.
