From the Mayor - 27 January 2022
Thank you for placing your trust in my civic leadership and re-electing me as your Mayor. It is indeed a great honour and responsibility and I will do my very best for Mosman and our wonderful community.
Following this week’s induction of the new Council and the election of the Deputy Mayor, Simon Menzies, I look forward to working constructively with the community, my fellow Councillors and Council staff to deliver another positive and productive term.
2022 has started with a very clear worldwide message – that we all need to continue managing the day-to-day challenges of living with COVID-19 as the virus moves from pandemic to endemic status. Please continue to take every necessary personal precaution and be re-assured that the health and safety of our residents will remain uppermost in all Council’s decisions and actions.
I want to take this opportunity to most sincerely thank the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust’s Chairman, Joseph Carrozzi, the executive team, rangers and staff who worked so collaboratively and effectively with Council to pull together the pop-up testing clinic at Georges Heights. The current location will remain available until 28 January while the pathology provider, DHM, looks for a possible longer term solution.
After the highly successful inaugural community event in 2018, Council is delighted to host another street party at Mosman Junction on Saturday 12 February from 6 to 8.30pm. There will be live music, great local food and fun activities for children, all undertaken with full adherence to current public health orders. Council is also again supporting the fabulous Mosman Art Walk which will run from 24 February until 14 March. The event, organised by the Mosman High School Art Committee, supports our wonderful local businesses and showcases local artists.
I hope to catch up with many residents at both events as we collectively support our local businesses and enjoy the opportunity to safely mingle with our neighbours.
