Oval works underway
Works are in full swing to upgrade Balmoral Oval’s playing surface, irrigation system and drainage following the success of similar works at Middle Head Oval which enable greater field utilisation while retaining a natural turf surface.
The six-month renewal is expected to be completed by February and follows the completion of widening and other improvements to the pedestrian and cycle path around Balmoral Oval.
Community sport including Little Athletics, Junior Rugby, Mosman Football and the Mosman Cricket Club as well as individual players of a wide range of sports will benefit from the planned oval upgrades, which includes turf surface improvements, the construction of two new cricket wickets on concrete slabs and the reconstruction of a turf wicket table.
The project has been funded by a $1 million Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund grant and Mosman Council.
